A Victorian scientist builds a time machine which propels him into the year 802701 AD. The future world he arrives in seems like paradise. Suffering has been replaced by beauty, contentment and peace, maintained by the entrancing Eloi, an elfin species descended from man. But soon he realises that this beautiful people are mere remnants of a once-great culture, now weak and childishly afraid of the dark. They have every reason to be afraid. In deep tunnels beneath their paradise lurks another race descended from the darker side of man: the sinister Morlocks. And when the scientist’s time machine vanishes, he must search those perilous tunnels if he is ever to get home again…
